The project is based on their popular [Redstone 3975 house plan.](https://normerica.com/houses/the-redstone-3975/) The article covers an interview with Normerica's President, Chris McFarlane, and highlights: - streamlining the building process by starting with an existing timber frame house plan - versatility and flexibility involved with customizing an existing design - structural and design elements in a Normerica timber frame home - selecting a builder to bring your timber frame home dream to a reality - on-site Normerica technical representative to oversee the timber frame building process, locally or internationally - building efficiency due to Normerica's precise manufacturing process Chris McFarlane is quoted in reference to the design elements, such as rugged wooden beams and trusses, open concept rooms, cathedral ceilings, and other signature Normerica features: > *“The cool thing about timber frame is the structural elements are also design elements. The timbers that allow large, open spaces and cathedral ceilings are gorgeous, so people want to show them off.”* When it comes to Normerica's process and team, Chris McFarlane remarks: *“At Normerica, we’re passionate about what we do. Our enthusiasm is infectious and we really try to make the whole process an enjoyable and memorable one for our clients. We’re committed to delivering you your dream home or cottage, within your budget and timeframe. It’s what we’ve been doing since 1979.”* [![timber frame made easy dockside magazine summer fall 2021 normerica thumbnail](https://blog.normerica.com/hs-fs/hubfs/timber%20frame%20made%20easy%20dockside%20magazine%20summer%20fall%202021%20normerica%20thumbnail.jpg?width=263&name=timber%20frame%20made%20easy%20dockside%20magazine%20summer%20fall%202021%20normerica%20thumbnail.jpg)](https://docksidepublishing.com/3d-flip-book/dockside-simcoe-summer-fall-2021/) [![Read the Full Article Now!](https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/3954028/594a59f7-f2aa-478f-8b93-b52443481dbe.png)](https://cta-redirect.hubspot.com/cta/redirect/3954028/594a59f7-f2aa-478f-8b93-b52443481dbe) ## About Normerica Since 1979, Normerica has created the highest quality timber frame homes and buildings across North America and around the world. Our decades of timber frame experience and expert in-house design capabilities have given us the ability to offer a high level of customization and design flexibility – a key advantage of timber frame homes and post and beam construction.  ### Recent Posts ### Categories - [Bungalow](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/bungalow) - [Cathedral Ceiling](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/cathedral-ceiling) - [Choosing a Custom Home Builder](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/choosing-a-custom-home-builder) - [Construction Financing](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/construction-financing) - [Contemporary Homes](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/contemporary-homes) - [Cost of Building a Timber Frame Home](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/cost-of-building-a-timber-frame-home) - [Cottage](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/cottage) - [Cottage Life Show](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/cottage-life-show) - [Custom Timber Frame Home Blog](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/custom-timber-frame-home-blog) - [Environmentally Friendly Home](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/environmentally-friendly-home) - [Featured Publications](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/featured-publications) - [Great Room](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/great-room) - [Green Building](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/green-building) - [Green House](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/green-house) - [House Designs](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/house-designs) - [House Plans](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/house-plans) - [How To Build A Custom Home](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/how-to-build-a-custom-home) - [Lakeside Cottage](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/lakeside-cottage) - [Modern House Plans](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/modern-house-plans) - [Net Zero Homes](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/net-zero-homes) - [Post and Beam Construction](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/post-and-beam-construction) - [Promotions](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/promotions) - [Screened-In Porch](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/screened-in-porch) - [Shows](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/shows) - [Timber Frame Homes To Love](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/timber-frame-homes-to-love) - [Timber Frame House Plans](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/timber-frame-house-plans) - [Timber Framing Experts](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/timber-framing-experts) - [Traditional House Plans](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/traditional-house-plans) - [Waterfront Cottage](https://blog.normerica.com/blog/tag/waterfront-cottage) Interested in Our Custom Homes?
