## Building Around the View and Customizing a Timber Frame Design Creates a Dream Chalet

Normerica is excited to have one of our customized timber frame chalet projects featured in [Dockside Magazine](https://docksidepublishing.com/gallery/?dockside) in its recent [Dockside Autumn/Winter 2022 Edition](https://docksidepublishing.com/3d-flip-book/dockside-autumn-winter-2022/). The [Alpine Magic timber frame project](https://normerica.com/projects/alpine-magic/) is an all-season timber frame retreat designed to satisfy the owners' yearnings for a rustic [log cabin design](https://download.normerica.com/log-home-timber-frame) and accentuate the panoramic views.

The Alpine Magic chalet design project captures the breathtaking views of the Blue Mountains. Owner Hogan describes his vision:

> *“The best part of our property is the view.
> At the front, it overlooks Georgian Bay, but there’s also a lake at the back,
> so we needed a design that would allow us the windows to maximize the view.”*
>
> The interview with Hogan in the Dockside Magazine article addresses the considerations for the dream chalet build and process:

- He loved that the timber details were also structural and the house plan designs looked great aesthetically.
- As a builder himself, Hogan recognized the choice of materials - pine timbers are particularly easy to stain and receptive to colour.
- Hogan and his wife, Susan, were pleased with the process of working with the Normerica design team to create a completely custom home, fitted to meet their needs - property, parameters, and taste.
- Hogan was also attracted to Normerica’s custom approach and flexible building options.

Hogan was impressed with many aspects of working with Normerica and really appreciated the simplicity and predictability combined with flexibility:

> *“The biggest thing was Normerica’s team was malleable.
> They were prepared for changes that may arise.
> They made everything simple – even their invoicing was predicable, even with changes that arose.”*
