Building Around the View and Customizing a Timber Frame Design Creates a Dream Chalet

Normerica is excited to have one of our customized timber frame chalet projects featured in Dockside Magazine in its recent Dockside Autumn/Winter 2022 Edition. The Alpine Magic timber frame project is an all-season timber frame retreat designed to satisfy the owners' yearnings for a rustic log cabin design and accentuate the panoramic views. 

The Alpine Magic chalet design project captures the breathtaking views of the Blue Mountains. Owner Hogan describes his vision:

“The best part of our property is the view. 
At the front, it overlooks Georgian Bay, but there’s also a lake at the back,
so we needed a design that would allow us the windows to maximize the view.”

The interview with Hogan in the Dockside Magazine article addresses the considerations for the dream chalet build and process:

• He loved that the timber details were also structural and the house plan designs looked great aesthetically.
• As a builder himself, Hogan recognized the choice of materials - pine timbers are particularly easy to stain and receptive to colour.
